Corian Installation Wolverhampton

Corian is the brand name of a solid surface material that was created by DuPont in the 1960s. This very hard surface material, which is composed of a compound found in bauxite combined with an acrylic polymer, has become a favoured material for countertops and bench tops, as well as tubs and sinks. Corian is non-porous, stain resistant. It is also heat resistant, but can be molded to a desired shape when heated. A unique feature of Corian is that the colours and patterns seen on the surface are distributed throughout the width of the material. Corian is only available through DuPont-approved fabricators and installers, one of those being UK Worktops Direct, a leading supplier of Corian work surfaces throughout the UK.

Several Product Lines are Available

Several different product lines featuring this material are available, including the popular Metallic series, in which flecks of gold and silver have been introduced into the material, giving it a metallic appearance. One of the latest product lines features darker, more scratch resistant colours. Corian has come a long ways since the original product line, which featured only a few solid colours.

The toughness and durability of Corian are well known but its use as a premium decorative surface should not be overlooked. While a kitchen countertop is normally designed to perform a useful function that same countertop can at the same time be an integral part of the overall decor in the kitchen, or as used as a decorative surface in other rooms, it can add to the decor of those other rooms as well.

Why Corian is often the Better Choice

There are of course other materials that serve well as both working and decorative surfaces in the kitchen, bathroom, or elsewhere in the home. These would include granite, stainless steel, marble, and stone. Most of these alternate choices tend to be more expensive than Corian, with several such as granite and marble being a great deal more expensive when used for countertop surfacing. Insofar as a choice of colouring and patterns is concerned, none of these alternatives can compete with the Corian surfaces UK Worktops Direct can provide.
